Born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, Nicole Deacon-Miller and Todd Deacon first began practicing yoga in 1993. Inspired by their instructor, Nicole completed her Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in 2005 and in 2006 the siblings purchased the Paradise Valley location and made it their own.
Big believers in hot yoga, Nicole and Todd wanted to make hot yoga accessible to as many people as possible. Because many are intimidated by hot yoga, they created a basic yoga class sequence that takes place in a warm room for 60 minutes, instead of the traditional hot room for 90 minutes. From there they began adding in more classes and transformational workshops and the Foundry was born.
“We believe that by inspiring people to grow and evolve themselves, they will spark joy and happiness,” says Nicole and Todd per their website. “Our hope is that this ripple effect will spread joy and happiness to their relationships, their friends, their families, the community, and eventually to the world.”
Today, the Foundry continues to offer Bikram hot yoga, as well as a holistic mix of additional hot yoga classes, hot pilates, hot HIIT, hot barre, and power yoga. The Foundry was the first hot yoga studio in Arizona, and they’ve since expanded to include six locations across Arizona in Arcadia, Arrowhead Ranch, Avondale, Flagstaff, Paradise Valley, Tempe-Mesa, as well as a California location in Thousand Oaks. And they plan to continue growing.
Recently, The Foundry was in the market for a shelving system to house some of the merchandise that they sell. They were looking for something with a modern look that’s also easily adjustable. The studio’s interior designer got to work exploring various options and recommended they go with Modern Shelving®.
They decided on a custom shelving system to fit their space. They chatted with the design team to make sure the shelves would not only look good, but would work well for their intended use.
“The team has been amazing to work with,” says The Foundry’s COO Niki Fillmore. “Very quick response times and very helpful.”
When the shelves arrived, the Foundry’s remodel team got to work, and the installation went smoothly. They installed the shelves in their lobby and filled them with various clothing items, hats, water bottles, and yoga mats that they sell. The result is a seamless shelving unit that catches your eye when you walk into the lobby.
“We are happy with the way they turned out,” says Nicole. “I like the look of them. We get compliments all the time.”
