Building the Ultimate Basement Movie Collection with Doug Newlin and Modern Shelving®

Doug Newlin has been passionate about movies for as long as he can remember. His collection began during the laser disc era and has continued to grow through DVDs, Blu-rays, and today's 4K UHD releases. Over the years, what started as a hobby evolved into an impressive personal archive of films.

As his collection expanded, Doug knew he needed a shelving system that could keep up.

“I was in the market for something well designed, high-quality, and capable of holding my ever-growing collection,” says Newlin.

Like many movie enthusiasts, Doug transformed his finished basement into a dedicated home theater and entertainment space. Finding shelving that could securely support a large media collection while complementing the room's design became a top priority.

During his search, Doug came across Modern Shelving through social media. While he rarely makes purchases from social media advertisements, something about Modern Shelving stood out.

After receiving his shelving system, Doug completed the installation in his basement media room. “I ordered my shelves about a year ago and they have held up perfectly,” says Newlin. “I have since ordered more for expansion.”
