Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? Here’s everything you need to know.

01

Modular shelving is designed to change with you. You can add shelves, move components, expand the system, or reconfigure the layout as your space and needs change.

02

We design Modern Shelving to be a long-term investment, not furniture you replace every few years.

We have customers who bought their systems more than 20 years ago, moved multiple times, and continued to reconfigure, expand, and reinstall the same shelving.

Because the system is modular, you can start small and add to it over time instead of buying everything at once.

Buy it once. Adapt it for decades.

03

In most cases, yes. Our systems can be configured around different wall sizes, ceiling heights, windows, TVs, desks, collections, and other architectural features. Send us a photo and measurements and we can help design the right setup.

04

Absolutely. That’s one of the biggest benefits of modular shelving. Start with what you need today, then add shelves, cabinets, desks, or additional bays later.

05

Yes. Our systems are designed for books, records, media equipment, collectibles, and everyday storage. Some aluminum shelf configurations can hold up to 100 lbs per shelf when properly installed and evenly loaded.

06

Yes. Many customers install their own systems. If you’re comfortable assembling furniture and using basic tools, installation is generally straightforward. For larger projects, some customers prefer a handyman or contractor.

07

It depends on the system. Wall-mounted systems require wall attachment, while floor-to-ceiling compression systems use tension between the floor and ceiling and can reduce the amount of wall mounting required.

08

Yes. Send us photos, measurements, and what you want to store or display. Our design team can recommend a layout for your space at no charge and with no obligation to purchase.
