Casimere Jollette is a big fan of life in New York City. As an actress and content creator, the Big Apple is the ideal location for herself and her partner. The couple reside in an old factory building in Brooklyn that’s been converted into apartments. They were seeking a shelving system to complete their apartment when they discovered Modern Shelving. The rest, as they say, is history.
Here, Jollette shares more about her work as an actress, what she was in the market for when she began her shelving search, and her thoughts on her own Modern Shelving unit.
How long have you been acting?
I’ve been acting since I was about 13 years old. I started studying in Chicago, Illinois, where I am from. Around 17, I moved to Los Angeles, where I studied and worked for about several years. I booked a life-changing acting gig, which was a Netflix original series called ‘Tiny Pretty Things’.
From there, I moved to New York City, where I studied method acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute. New York is still where I currently reside, studying, working, and creating in the most busy and fun city in the world.
Is acting your full-time gig?
Acting is my number one passion, but not entirely a full-time job. To fill up my time, I work a lot creating content and delving into the fashion world here in NYC. I love having the opportunity to immerse myself in multiple creative realms.
What were you in the market for when you were first looking for shelves?
I specifically wanted a shelving system that was functional, as well as aesthetically pleasing, that matched the mid-century modern tone of our apartment.
How did you discover Modern Shelving?
I discovered Modern Shelving on Instagram after a friend had posted a room-dividing shelving unit in his lofted apartment. From then on, I couldn’t think of anything more that I wanted to include in our apartment for wall storage and display.
Did you order custom or stock shelves?
I ordered custom shelving. The Modern Shelving team helped me create and design exactly what I wanted and brought it to life.
Did you install the shelves yourself?
I personally did not install the shelves, but my partner is pretty handy and he was able to get it done himself!
Where in your home are your shelves?
Our shelves are the focal point of our home in our living room. It serves as a desk as well as a shelf unit that holds books, cameras, and memorabilia.
Are you happy with your shelves?
Yes! I am more than happy. One of my favorite parts about them is that they are completely modular and customizable. We have changed the layout of our shelves multiple times and created new renditions of the spacing, and it is just so fun and cool to be able to re-create something over and over again from one shelving system.
Has anyone had the chance to see your shelves?
Yes! It is truly one of the most talked about things that people want to know more about when they step inside our home. It truly is a work of art. Friends who have seen it are always so interested and impressed with the overall design, as well as all the fun knick-knacks on the shelves that could keep our guests entertained for hours.
