People love yoga. The 500-year-old practice remains immensely popular today thanks to its ability to help improve flexibility, strength, balance, and posture. Worldwide, over 300 million people practice yoga, with the United States accounting for roughly 38 million yogis.
When a popular yoga studio in Huntersville, North Carolina closed its doors in 2008, the town was sad to loose its beloved studio. Students and teachers alike wanted a place that they could call home and practice yoga alongside a larger community. Resident Genevieve Boulanger decided to create that home for her fellow yogis, and she founded iShine Yoga.
Initially, classes were taught out of Boulanger’s home by incredible instructors. The classes grew organically through word of mouth but after a decade of teaching, Boulanger knew it was time to create a permanent home for her classes. In 2017, iShine officially opened its doors as a studio.
In 2025, iShine expanded their existing footprint from 1,700 ft² to 4,300 ft² to provide space for their ever-growing community. “New iShine” offers three yoga studios: Studio Light, Studio Love, and Studio Life.
iShine currently offers over 50 general yoga classes each week, as well as teacher trainings, and specialty yoga classes. Additionally, they offer multiple world class wellness services including acupuncture, massage, skincare and facials, talk therapy, yoga therapy, Ayurveda, health counseling, HeartMath® biofeedback, transformational coaching, and Dharma coaching.
As they continued to grow, iShine found themselves in the market for a shelving unit for the studio. Boulanger was seeking something sleek, adjustable, and elegant. When she discovered Modern Shelving, she was attracted to the modular designs and decided it would be the perfect fit.
“I loved that we could change the configuration without having a slat wall,” says Boulanger. “I loved the look and the customization!”
Boulanger opted to order a stock design and had a good experience working with the design team. She found the team to be patient and helpful in assisting her until she had a clear understanding of precisely what she was looking for.
When the shelves arrived, one of Boulanger’s yogi friends assembled them for her. A retiree undergoing a teacher training program at iShine, the team lovingly refers to him as “Rob the Builder” and he lived up to his nickname with the installation.
The shelves are in iShine’s boutique, featured on their main wall. They house décor and various clothing and products that are for sale. Boulanger says that customers regularly marvel over the retail shelves and that she’s a fan of the final product.
“The shelves are quality and with the gold spray paint helped fit our brand vibes at iShine,” says Boulanger. “I love the finished product!”
