David Arellano has been a fan of photography since he first picked up a camera when he was fifteen years old. Since, he’s had a camera in his hand during all of life’s adventures and significant moments. He’s been able to use his talents as a photographer to earn some extra income through nightlife events, festivals, automotive photoshoots with friends, and some more formal branding and lifestyle shoots.
Based out of Salt Lake City, Utah, David was in the market for a simple shelving system that he could adjust over time as he added more items to his at home “gallery.” When he discovered Modern Shelving® online, he was intrigued by the simple style and adjustability of the shelves. What were you in the market for when you were first looking for shelves?
I wanted something that was simple. No frills, no complications, and something that I could adjust to meet my needs as I curate what I call my “gallery” over time.
I was doing a lot of research and being extensive in my search for the right product. I came across the Modern Shelving® site and was really intrigued with how simple it was, both in its styling and in the way the shelves are easily adjustable. Did you order custom shelves?
As much as I would’ve loved to order some custom shelves, the “off-the-shelf” products were already a great fit. I took advantage of the products that were on sale at the time, took some measurements and discovered that the 3-Bay PAL system was a perfect fit.
What was your experience like working with the design team to place your order?
Since I was buying a ready-made product, it couldn’t have been more simple. Having a large, blank wall really lent itself to picking a product that didn’t need to do much other than allow me to personalize the space as I desired.
Did you install the shelves yourself?
I installed the system myself. The components are super simple. I genuinely don’t think the system could be any easier to assemble and install.
What do you house on your shelves?
I have a curated selection of trinkets and things that speak to my hobbies and personality. That includes my passion for cars by way of some die-cast vehicles, my photography is represented with some vintage lenses and my first camera, plus various pieces of art and a few collectibles. It’s a small snapshot of what excites me in life.
Are you happy with how your shelves turned out?
I’m very happy with Modern Shelving® system! Simple, simple, simple. The system isn’t something I’d call furniture, it’s like a gallery. The simplicity of the Modern Shelving system allows my collection to stand out.
Have any friends or family seen your shelves yet?
Many! I’m a person that’s very much about aesthetic and curating a space, and I’ve received many compliments on the way I’ve decorated my space. The Modern Shelving® system is a centerpiece of my small home, and I really couldn’t imagine my space without it.
