In 2024, after upgrading his home theater, Mark began collecting 4K DVDs. Just over a year into collecting, Mark already has 683 DVDs demanding space in his home. When did you start collecting DVDs?
My 4K DVD collection began September 2024 after I upgraded the home theater and wanted to take advantage of my high-grade equipment. Now, I'm passionate about finding my next movie daily and it's become a hobby.
What types of DVDs do you collect?
The 4K collection varies from old westerns and sci-fi to all the latest offerings that were released in the local theater a few months prior. We love action movies with Dolby Atmos and LFE bass tracks which sound incredible using our four subwoofers.
As of now, there are 683 total DVDs. All 4K except a hand full which are Blu-ray and one plain DVD because the movie Six Days Seven Nights has no other format at this time.
What were you in the market for when you were first looking for shelves?
First, I began a search for DVD shelving on sites like Amazon but soon realized that wasn't going to work for me. Quality and look just weren't there.

What was your experience like working with the design team to place your order?
I set up my Zoom chat that day with Ryan Casenillo who was able to show me a photo of what the DVD shelving would look like, and I was sold! I placed the order later that day.
Did you install the shelves yourself or hire an installer?
We hired our loyal and dependable handyman Joe who had them installed within a few hours.
Did you add the LED lighting separately?
I did. They were purchased on Amazon for $85 for the pair and they operate in unison.
Are you happy with how your shelves turned out?
Absolutely! The modern look is exactly what I desired, and I could not be happier. It has a capacity to hold 1100 DVDs. Our friends and family are thrilled with the final project.
Anything else?
Yes! I just placed another custom order with Ryan for another custom DVD shelving system which will hold 450 titles. This new system will be used to shelve all the movies that we've watched. Of course, handyman, Joe, will be back to install them as well.
