Pure Barre is a full-body workout designed to not only transform you physically but also mentally. Over the course of 50 minutes, the workouts target every major muscle group through low-impact yet high-intensity movements. Pure Barre has locations across the country, and each location offers four unique class formats inspired by a combination of yoga, Pilates, and ballet.
In March of 2025, Pure Barre opened a new location in Winter Garden, Florida. Owner Allyson Passino always dreamed of opening a Pure Barre studio in her neighborhood. When she caught wind of a brand new building being built, she knew it was the perfect fit and immediately began building out the studio. As part of the construction process, Passino purchased shelves from Modern Shelving to house and display some of her gear and retail offerings. Read on to learn more about what Pure Barre is all about and Passino’s experience working with Modern Shelving to bring her custom shelves to life.
How many members do you have?
We have over 300 members at our downtown Winter Garden studio alone. Across our regional locations, we have over 1,700 members who have access to attend classes at all five of our locations. We offer 60 classes per week.
What were you in the market for when you were looking for shelving?
At Pure Barre, we’re not just a gym. We pride ourselves on being our clients’ “third space” – a space that they can gather with friends, retreat from the stresses of work, refill their own cup, and of course, do some retail therapy! Historically, in our athleisure boutique, we had used standard slat walls, but we were looking for a retail display that was more elevated in appearance. However, we didn’t want to lose the ability for the display to be modular. We found exactly what we were looking for in Modern Shelving.
What was your experience like working with the design team to bring your shelves to life?
Our most popular retail item that we sell in our studio is grip socks. We carry over 300 pairs at a time and really needed a great way to merchandise them. Displaying them well is always a tricky part in designing our spaces. Modern Shelving was awesome because they created a sock hook just for us that would perfectly display our socks! I loved being able to see renderings of what the shelving would look like and ultimately decided to go with two 24” displays for our socks, two 48” displays for our retail, and an additional 24” display with a built-in cabinet for additional storage and accessory displays.
Where in your shop are your shelves?
We have our shelving unit in our front lobby. It displays leggings, tank tops, athletic jumpsuits, grip socks, water bottles, towels, hats, and more! We carry top-notch designer brands like Lululemon, Beyond Yoga, Bala, Spiritual Gangster, and more!
Are you happy with your shelves?
We absolutely love them! My only wish is that there were notches inside the verticals so that it would be easier to get the horizontal bars and shelves more level. Or, if it came with a tool that was 48” or 24”, depending on your unit size that had a built in level that you could hook to your two verticals to help you get the horizontals or shelves level faster and easier.
Did you recently place another order for an additional location?
Yes, I loved my first order so much that I already placed a second order to use when renovating another one of my locations!
