Located on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, California, Picnic Coffee is a quaint coffee shop with unique drinks. Their expansive menu includes coffee shop classics like espresso, matcha, tea lattes, and drip coffee, appeasing to traditionalists.
Picnic Coffee also has a fleet of signature drinks like the Vienna, an iced espresso/matcha with Demerara, milk, sweet cream, and sea salt. Another local favorite is the Spanish, a dreamy blend of espresso, milk, condensed milk, cinnamon, and cayenne. “We are a small, cozy coffee shop,” says co-owner Sun Park. “We try to be a friendly place to our neighbors.”
The shop is small, closer to the square footage of a studio apartment than a typical coffee shop. But Picnic Coffee makes the most of the space, with a few seats inside and some lawn chairs outside. Despite their limited space, Picnic Coffee still manages a unique aesthetic and is a place people are drawn to.
“Our shop is very simple and clean,” says Park. “We use a lot of white with bright primary colors to give it a fresh and modern feel.”
Park adds, shyly, that Eater, a local food and dining news website, once called them a “Little MoMa.” They were pleased with the review.
When Park and team were searching for shelves to install in their shop, they wanted something that looked clean but was strong enough to hold their coffee gear. Additionally, the shelves would have to match their simple, white interior.
Through some online searching, Park saw an Instagram ad for Modern Shelving. He checked the reviews and was pleased to find that customers thought that the quality was good, the price fair, and the shipping fast.
Park selected stock shelves and had a seamless experience working with the design team to place his order. When the shelves arrived, their contractors got to work installing them. It took some work to get everything lined up perfectly and ensure they were secure, but once they figured out, everything looked great.
When you walk into Picnic Coffee, the shelves are on the right wall. It’s a prominent spot where people like to take photos and post online, making it even more important that the shelves look good.
“We love them,” says Park. “We are just very happy that these shelves help make our small space look better.”
